Tata Harper On the Natural Beauty Movement and Eating Your Way to Healthy Skin

If we all read the ingredient lists of our skincare products, we’ll notice a lot of chemicals that shouldn’t be there at all. However, consumers hardly notice, and companies mask these chemicals with fancy jargon even when someone brings them up.

But that’s not to say that every skincare brand is doing this. Tata Harper Skincare, founded by Tata Harper, is a step towards making green and organic skincare products that are not only good for the users but also for the environment.

In a Mind Body Green article, Tata Harper is in conversation with the author, explaining her journey and why she deemed it so necessary to create an eco-conscious skincare line.

When asked how she thought of the idea initially, she said that the idea first came into her head when her stepfather got sick with cancer.

His doctors told him to abstain from a few chemicals during his cancer diagnosis.

That’s when Tata Harper started doing her research on these products, most of which were often overlooked by consumers because they were uncommon (and hard to pronounce).

To her surprise, she found tons of hazards of these ingredients.

The most shocking part is that some of them were used in the automobile manufacturing industry too. Fortunately, Tata Harper had an industrial engineering educational background.

Therefore, she aimed to change the norms in the skincare industry by curating luxury skincare products free of toxins. All her products were hand-made on a Vermont farm.

In 2013, Tata Harper made an appearance at Organic Avenue. Here, she spoke to people about her brand and gave them facials.

In a span of five years, she brought her skincare line into full force after finding the right farms, people, and ingredients to make her dream a reality.

In this process, she worked with green chemists, botanists, and aromatherapists. The whole point of her tedious process was to curate skincare products that are free of synthetic emulsifiers and preservatives.

Instead, she used natural alternatives. Today, all her products are certified by Ecocert and devoid of sulfates or parabens.

Although she normally follows the motto ‘more is more,’ she believes that skin health requires the best products, not always the most popular. She has the same ideology for her company, saying that she wants it to be the best rather than the biggest.

Now, she is expanding her business into Australia and Southeast Asia while maintaining the same quality standards she has kept up in the US.

She has quickly become an inspiration for people who want to bring a change in their lives. Whether you’re still taking the first step towards an all-natural skin care routine or trying to be 100% green in your actions, Tata Harper serves as a motivation.

How to Eat Your Way to A Healthy Skin?

If you’re wondering how to get a clear skin naturally, your extensive skin care routine might not always be the answer.

Don’t get us wrong. Skincare is definitely essential. However, it’s not the only way to have beautiful skin.

What you eat also affects the appearance of your skin. That’s why making a few changes in your diet can help you notice a huge difference in your face.

Fruits and Greens

We all know that greens are healthy for the body, but how much should we eat? Experts suggest eating at least five portions of veggies and fruits in your daily diet, whether as meals or snacks.

Besides directly improving skin health, greens also contain antioxidants that lower the free radical damage, which is often the root cause of most skin issues.

Make sure you eat a ‘rainbow’ of vegetables and fruits. Simply put, make your plate colorful with variety.

Some skin-healthy options to look for include pumpkin, sweet potatoes, carrots, spinach, kale, and papaya. Since they contain beta carotene, they’re potent antioxidants, flushing the skin of any harmful radicals and improving the skin tone.

Amp Up The Vitamin C and E

Vitamin C is bound to pop up when you search for clear skin tips. In fact, it’s also an essential ingredient in most skin care products, including sunblocks and serums.

That’s because Vitamin C has a ton of benefits for the body. For one, it boosts the immune system’s functioning, keeping you protected against foreign attacks. Second, it makes your skin radiant and helps heal blemishes.

Most importantly, it is needed by the skin to produce collagen for elasticity and firmness.

You can get your daily dose of Vitamin C from broccoli, oranges, sweet potatoes, blueberries, and guava.

Like Vitamin C, Vitamin E also protects your skin from damage. However, it works against the internal damage caused by free radicals. Furthermore, it enhances skin growth.

You can get Vitamin E from hazelnuts, corn oils, pine nuts, almonds, and avocado.

Before asking anyone how to get a clear face, maybe ask yourself when you drank your last glass of water. Most of us are quick to purchase ridiculously expensive moisturizers but won’t use enough of the most natural – and FREE – moisturizer, i.e., water

Dehydration makes your skin flaky and colorless. That’s why you must drink at least eight glasses of water during the day. Make a habit of carrying a water bottle around so that you remember to get your daily intake even when busy with chores or work.

You can also eat foods, like cucumbers and watermelons, that have high water content.

Tata Harper surely has an inspiring story to tell but switching to an all-natural skincare routine is not the only solution. You also need to eat healthy, as discussed in this article. Hopefully, these dietary clear skin tips will help you notice a difference in your skin in no time.
