What are CBD Candles Made From?

If you’ve ever bought or made scented candles at home, you’ll quickly understand how CBD candles are made.

Like scented candles, CBD candles also help create a mood and provide aromatherapy.

Most CBD candles are made using CBD oil. The distilled oil containing different terpenes is added to the wax to impart CBD benefits to the resulting candles.

Thus, the candles have the therapeutic advantages and scent of CBD. However, you can also find CBD-infused candles without the plant’s odor.

Alternatively, you can make DIY CBD candles and add essential oils to mask CBD’s natural smell.

Do CBD Candles Make You High?

Most people believe that breathing in the same air as the fumes from the CBD oil candles may make them high. However, that isn’t true.

All CBD candles are made using CBD essential oils that have lower than 0.3% THC. Only CBD is the primary ingredient here which does not have any psychoactive properties like THC. Some of the best CBD candles have 0% THC, containing isolate rather than broad-spectrum CBD.

Research published in the Journal of Analytical Toxicology found that even after being exposed to passive cannabis smoke in a confined space, the subjects had undetectable levels of cannabinoids.

Therefore, it is evident that a few milligrams of CBD in a well-ventilated area would have an even lower effect.

Where Should You Burn CBD Candles?

You may burn CBD candles anywhere in the house, especially in a room where you spend most of your time.

For instance, if you’re always on your work desk or watching TV, keep the candle in the living room. You can also keep it in your bedroom to get better, stress-free sleep.

Moreover, if you do yoga or meditate every morning, light a candle during it to get CBD candle benefits.

Do CBD Candles Really Work?

Lately, the trend of scented candles has become widely famous. Almost everyone seems to be a big fan of aromatherapy. These candles fill the house with their pleasant fragrance and lighten the mood.

The infusion of CBD with the scented candles in the current years has made its mark already.

Let’s be clear that CBD candles are an unconventional way of getting CBD. Unlike CBD ingestible or topicals, CBD candles are breathed.

A study published by The American Society For Clinical Investigation in 2017 revealed that on breathing CBD-infused essential oils, the blood pressure levels of subjects were lowered significantly. They also reported feeling relaxed and strengthened.

Moreover, these candles contain a low concentration of CBD. Therefore, you do not have to worry about the high effects associated with them.

The anecdotal evidence also gives encouraging news about CBD benefits when inhaled. However, still more research is needed to conclude the positive effects of CBD candles.

CBD Candle Benefits

CBD candles have similar effects as other CBD products but with a lower intensity. When you administer CBD oil or apply a CBD topical, you’re using it directly on your body.

However, lighting CBD candles only give off a CBD-infused scent or fumes that indirectly impact your body.

Here are some benefits of CBD candles.

1.Help You Relax

After a long hectic day, everyone needs to feel truly relaxed. CBD candles do precisely that for you.

Whether you want a hot bath or to read a book in peace, these candles can help create a calming ambiance.

A 2015 study shows that CBD is a potential treatment for anxiety and related conditions.

Therefore CBD, when coupled with a candle, may not only destress you but also enhance your mood. Your body is in for a treat of some of the most calming blends with CBD candles.

2. Has Aromatherapy Properties

Breathing in the pleasantly scented air positively affects your brain.

The scent of essential oils in a candle stimulates strong receptors present in our noses. These receptors then activate brain parts that regulate emotions.

Hence, CBD-infused candles create an atmosphere that is comforting and uplifts emotions.

CBD aromatherapy candles may also enhance sleep patterns, boost mood, and lessen stress.

3. Reduce Inflammation

CBD candles may also relax pain and reduce inflammation. As some aroma emitting from CBD candles can trigger calming effects in the brain, certain chemicals can impact pain receptors.

4. Augment Interior Design

The things you keep yourself in company with have a significant impact on your spiritual and mental wellbeing. Apart from health benefits, lighting candles in your house can enhance the beauty of your home too.

Moreover, candles in a living room can create a more welcoming and soothing environment for your guests.

Other Benefits

  • Lighting CBD-infused candles help elevate your mood and create a general sense of wellbeing.
  • Unlike some CBD edibles, the effect of CBD candles are very mild.
  • CBD candles do not have any psychoactive effects.

How to Make CBD Oil Candles?

If you don’t want to spend money on expensive branded CBD candles, you can use this CBD candles recipe to make your own stash at home.

Materials Required:

Here are the supplies you need to make CBD candles:

  • Soy wax
  • Hot glue gum
  • Food thermometer
  • Hemp wick
  • A container (mason jar or a cup)
  • Coconut oil (preferably organic)
  • CBD isolate

Method

Besides these materials, it’s also handy to have a pair of oven mittens since you’ll be dealing with hot wax. Make sure your working station is clear to prevent burns or accidents.

Once you’ve arranged everything on the kitchen counter, it’s time to begin.

  • Place the hemp wick in the center of the container. Stick it to the bottom with the glue gun. The wick should be long enough for you to trim later.
  • Then, melt the wax in a pan or a double boiler. Add organic coconut oil for additional benefits.
  • Check the temperature of the wax. Once it reaches 120 degrees, add the CBD isolate to the pan.
  • Now, pour the wax into the container. Make sure you’re holding the wick in place, or it will bend over or break. Don’t pull on it because it can come apart from the bottom.
  • Fill the container a little below its total limit. It’s best to leave about a centimeter of space on the top.
  • The wick will be unstable while the wax dries. To prevent it from falling, sandwich it between two pencils or chopsticks.
  • Let the wax cool for a few hours, four to five, to be precise.
  • Lastly, trim the wick from the top – half an inch would do.

Now, your candle is ready for use. You can either keep it for yourself or even gift it to a friend or special someone.
